The final of the DFB Cup (German “DFB-Pokal”) 2019/2020 is over.
Once again the winner is Bayern Munich.
Despite the COVID19 pandemic, the clubs were again able to earn a lot of money in the DFB Cup this year. Especially for smaller clubs the DFB-Cup is enormously attractive. The revenue potential is large and the share of the total revenue potentially enormous. As every year, smaller clubs were able to fill their coffers in the DFB Cup season 2019/2020 with the revenues from the DFB Cup.
For 1. FC Saarbrücken, for example, the money plays an enormous role, especially compared to the small budget
1. FC Saarbrücken: Revenue of at least 5.5 Million Euros
The club was able to generate almost 5.5 million euros in revenues. The distribution: For the 1st round there were 130,500 Euros, for the second round 351,000 Euros, for the 3rd round 702,000 Euros. There were 1.404 million euros for reaching the quarterfinals, and 2.807 million euros for reaching the semifinals.
How exactly are the DFB Cup Revenues distributed?
The revenues are distributed according to the following key:
In the 1st round 130,500 euros will go to the 24 representatives from the regional associations, 175,500 euros to the other 40 clubs. Last year there were 121,000 euros and 166,000 euros respectively for the first round. The increase in premiums is partly due to the TV contracts. Thus, at least two matches are planned for free TV in the future.
The revenues for the final are not yet fixed at this time.
