Since 1 July 2026 the Süper Lig has spent €418.73m but generated only €147.52m in income. Relative to league size, the €271.21m deficit is the second heaviest in the data set — income covers just 35% of spending.
Four clubs, four fifths of the spending
Fenerbahçe (€99.17m), Beşiktaş (€79.05m), Galatasaray (€78.61m) and Trabzonspor (€65.82m) together account for 77% of league expenditure. All four finish clearly negative, three of them beyond −€68m.
This is not an investment pattern but an arms race: the four big clubs buy against each other without any meaningful selling market on the other side.
The income side does not carry
Total income of €147.52m is less than the combined transfer income of Ajax and PSV (€175.00m). Trabzonspor lead with €52.50m — 35.6% of all league income, which shows how thin the selling base is.
Three clubs — Çorum, Erzurumspor and Kasımpaşa — record no transfer income whatsoever. Çorum still spend €24.80m.
Samsunspor as the counter-example
Only six of eighteen clubs finish positive. The best balance belongs to Samsunspor (+€12.65m) on €26.70m of income — the only club outside the leading group to have sold meaningfully.
For the series this is the sharpest comparison available: the Süper Lig spends almost as much as the Eredivisie and Primeira Liga combined, while generating barely a sixth of their joint income.
