Since 1 July 2026 LaLiga has spent €752.08m and taken in €501.95m, a deficit of €250.13m. The distribution matters more than the total: Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético alone account for 70.7% of league spending.
Europe’s most lopsided league
None of the nine competitions surveyed concentrates its spending so heavily on three addresses. Real Madrid invest €225.00m, Barcelona €184.00m, Atlético €123.00m. The other seventeen clubs together reach roughly €220m — less than Real Madrid on their own.
The income side is far flatter. Barcelona lead with €89.50m, or 17.8% of league income. For comparison: in the Primeira Liga, Sporting alone account for 36.8%.
The mid-table sells
Eight of twenty clubs post a surplus, and the names are telling: Osasuna (+€33.02m), Levante (+€31.90m) and Rayo Vallecano (+€31.62m) top the balance ranking. These are not clubs with large squad budgets but development-and-resale operations.
Rayo take in €42.40m against €10.78m spent, a ratio of nearly 4:1. Sevilla (€41.00m income, €15.50m spending) follow the same pattern.
The promoted clubs
Racing Santander invest a noticeable €16.80m, Deportivo La Coruña a clearer €26.00m. Málaga, by contrast, sit at €0.30m spent and no income at all — the league’s most restrained club, and a sign of how unevenly the promotion dividend lands in Spain.
